Sorry For Your Loss: Stories on Grief (A reading)
When a close friend died in January 2018, I remember addressing no one in particular: “No. I’m sorry, I can’t do this right now, I have nothing with which to mourn you.” I was recovering from what felt like a relentless wave of losses, and could barely hold it together. This is to say I have my own share of a rosary of deaths, and I’m writing this collection of short stories to sort through them. At once universal and personal, I am especially interested in exploring the messiness of loss in a world that often expects us to somehow hang in there, keep it to-gether, deal, endure, even in the face of the most devastating, unhinging, life-changing occurrences.
