In my narrative investigative documentary “Women of the Revolution,” I aimed to shed light on the adverse effects of the discriminatory and oppressive laws enacted by women members of the Iranian parliament. Thus, the documentary investigates the struggles of women in reclaiming their lost rights after the Islamic Revolution. It features interviews with women representatives of different periods in the Legislative Assembly of the Islamic Republic, giving their reactions to the oppression of women. In addition, the film tells the story of my life from the age of two, when the Islamic Revolution took place in Iran, up until I turned 46. It recounts my experience of being summoned to the morality police for the crime of not wearing a hijab while driving in my car.
This documentary is in the final stages of editing and I plan to complete post-production while at the Wissenschaftskolleg.
